i think you may be hoping for something which isn’t possible in XML.
You can only have mixed or unmixed content models. There are no
other possibilities; i.e. you cannot say:
foo+, text, bar+
so I don’t believe there is any advantage to <pcdata> or whatever.
@mode=“mixed” or @allowsText=“true” is closer to the XML definition.
And yes, I know the Guidelines are not limited to XML yadda yadda yadda...
