While I'd be happy with that, I don't think it is fair on the
individuals concerned. We are all volunteers to the TEI and all
have different commitments, duties, and responsibilities in our
home institutions. Being chair does, I would suggest, add a
certain amount of work on top (mainly
organizational/administrative). They may not have time to do that
or particularly dislike that sort of work. So let's say we did it
that way and we all voted for personX because we like them. But
they are really busy at their home institution and actively have
no desire to take on the extra work; then the TEI suffers.
Instead I'd still suggest it is the better course of action to
remove from the running those people who actively *don't* want to
do it (for whatever reason) and encourage anyone else who might
wish to stand for election to do so. And I would encourage anyone
who does wish to stand to do so.
