[tei-council] ICT Standards Consortia survey (fwd)

Dear Board and Council people,

The TEI is listed in a survey of standardization consortia hosted by the 
European Committee for standardization. They are asking for any updates to the 
information they have on file. I don't know if all the attachments will go 
through, but if you go to 
http://www.cen.eu/cen/Sectors/Sectors/ISSS/Consortia/Pages/default.aspx#t and 
click on the link for "TEI-C" in the list you will see a PDF with the 
information for us. If you notice anything that needs changing, please let me 
know by the end of the week (Sept. 14) and I will take care of forwarding the 
information.

(I would guess that Laurent was the person who originally got us on this list.)

Dear Consortium colleagues

For many years, we have published a survey of standardization consortia in the ICT domain, providing comparable basic data on the organisations including scope, contact points, membership arrangements, where outputs can be obtained from, any IPR policy etc.  Whilst no doubt we are missing quite a number of bodies, and also the usual disclaimers concerning the accuracy of the data have to be applied, the list is one of the most complete and consistent there is at a global level.

I am writing because your organisation is one figuring on our list; the time has come for us to provide an updated edition, and we would very much appreciate your re-validation of the information we provide, much of which has been obtained from the web.  You can find the current edition of the survey at http://www.cen.eu/cen/Sectors/Sectors/ISSS/Consortia/Pages/default.aspx, with an alphabetical link to the consortia covered.  Please check the information and let us have any updates using the simple template attached, if possible before the end of September 2012.  We will send you a link to the revised publication version.  Please also inform us of any other consortia you feel are missing from our current list, and we will contact them.  Contributions should be sent to H?l?ne Hennico in our Innovation Department (hhennico at cencenelec.eu<mailto:hhennico at cencenelec.eu>).

Whilst I am writing, you may also wish to note that CEN and CENELEC are keen to improve our inter-relationships with standards consortia within our broad activity fields, maximising the complementarities with formal standards processes in Europe (but linked closely to international standards activities) and at national level in our 33 member organisations.  This outreach is also to be seen in the context of new policy initiatives of the European Commission, which are seeking to ensure certain consortia specifications meeting relevant criteria may be referenced in public procurement.  The EU Commission has established a consultative group (the "Multi-Stakeholder Platform") platform that includes the formal standards bodies and a number of large consortia with a European presence, as well as a wide range other stakeholders including EU member states, but clearly many standards consortia cannot routinely be represented there - we shall be pleased to collaborate with such bodies.
