I looked at how this works.

 a) <egXML> in the chapters will always get rendered. so just make the @xml:lang be right, for neatness.

  b) in *Spec, the language on the parent <exemplum> is the trigger used to decide whether or not to show the example,
 not the language on the <egXML>. so again, @xml:lang on <egXML> should reflect the truth
