[tei-council] witness lists again

Hi All,

I'm willing to revisit this. I opened up my oXygen and attempted to
build an msDescription based on Gautier's requests (as translated
here: http://www.tei-c.org/Drafts/witnessPart/index.xml?style=printable)
and indeed I had some trouble. But it's not a problem of in the header
vs. in the witness list - I think that is a red herring. The problem
is that this does not validate:

So, yes, in order to get some of these in you need to include their
parent elements as well (to have <seal> we need <sealDesc>, to have
<origDate> we need to have <history> and <origin>) but that's not such
a big deal. The big deal, as I see it, is that we can't mix <p>s up
with the specialized elements from the model.physDescPart class. So if
our intrepid archivist wants to include a general physical description
in his <p>s, plus a more detailed description of the seal (taking
advantage of the <seal> element), he can't do it. He'd need to use the
other specialized elements as well, and that indeed could be a burden.
I don't suppose we'd want to allow <seal> as a member of
model.pPart.msdesc, so it could occur within <p>? I really think this
is the big issue. Other than that, the example above is valid and, I'd
argue, not very burdensome. And whether it appears in the header or in
the witness list, it'll look about the same.
