    Yeah, I remember B&H and the polish place on avenue a and 10th, home cooking!
    
    But as for  egg creams; any candy store in the city had great egg cream. What
    made Gem's so special is that
    by the late 60's all the candy stores with lunch counters were out of business
    -- and Gem was the only egg cream in town/
