I'm not sure if this is exactly what Wesley Hogan is looking for, but he
might take a look at _Community and Organization in the New Left, 1962-1968:
The Great Refusal_ (how's that for a long title!) by Wini Breines (JF
Bergin/Praeger, 1982). It's a very "new leftist" (in the mid to late 60s
sense) book and deals a lot with internal dynamics of "the movement".
