Also interesting, though perhaps not exactly what you're looking for, is a
new book of covers from the 60s from _Esquire_ magazine. The full-page
cover reproductions are accompanied by a half page blurb on its
significance etc. A view from the mainstream (but, in this case,
sympathetic) media. There's a great cover of LBJ and Humphrey --
puppeteer and puppet, respectively -- as well as some interesting
converage of Ali.
