And some additional literature:
James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time, Another Country, Nobody Knows my Name, etc.
Ellison's Invisible Man, Richard Wright's Native Son and Black Like Me (?),
Martin Luther King, Why We Can't Wait (I think?), others whose names escape
me, and of course, "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." While we're on that
subject, Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience" comes to mind. Howard Zinn's book on
civil disobedience and his little Vietnam book ("Why we are in..." or "How to
get out of..." I forget the title but can dig it up).
