Subject: change for Humanist's logbooks; Humanist on CD-ROM

As many of you will know, Humanist's monthly logbooks have been growing
so large that fetching them has at times been difficult or simply
impossible. Long delays have been caused by the network software's habit
of shunting aside large files until the traffic in small ones is slight.
Then, too, ListServ's limit on the maximum amount of data any one person
can request within a 6-hour period has caused a bit of grief. We have,
therefore, told the software to start making weekly logbooks. These are
named HUMANIST LOGyymmx, where as before yy = last two digits of the
year, mm = the number of the month, but x = the week, designated A, B,
and so forth.

This change will mean more typing when you cannot pinpoint the week in
which some desired item was transmitted, but you will get the file(s)
more quickly and without some other difficulties.

Plans are afoot to put all of Humanist on a CD-ROM disk. Stay tuned for
more information.
