I second that opinion. 
And I agree that in cases where there is only one candidate it suffices to confirm the election per acclamation.
*But* in all other cases I really do think a secret ballot is best --  and I even do not want the returning officer to know my vote. Put the other way round, I can see no benefits in going without a secret vote?! 
Why not use opavote as we are doing for the council and board elections? As far as I can see it's free for our purpose and it's secret in the sense that no one sees the actual votes.
