There's ample precedent for that. Both the copying, and the failing to 
keep them in sync. :-(

On the list of ODD enhancements that hasn't made it yet is the ability 
to suck an example out of the spec and plonk it into the prose, the same 
way as we currently suck <desc>s out for <specList>s. Would need some 
way of identifying which example you wanted, of course, so might involve 
adding xml:ids to all the <egXML>s.
