Not at the moment. It would need some serious surgery
to clean this up so that you could do what you want. It
would be possible to put the content-type macros in the the "core", maybe,
instead of "tei";  that's the first thing I'd try. I think its
morally defensible.

Do others feel that doing this work is of sufficient
benefit to justify the effort?
