Dear Council members,

Most voices raised so far are more or less against a meeting in
conjunction with ACH/ALLC, which is fine with me, so we drop that
option.

May I then suggest that we look at a meeting in March or April?

As to the meeting place and economic considerations (travel and
lodging for council members), I looks to me like Oxford would be the
likely winner, with Nancy and Copenhagen run-ups -- at least my
experience so far has been that hotels in the States tend to be more
expensive then in Europe, on top of that the total travel costs would
likely be less.

On the other hand, we have held all Council meetings so far in Europe
(London, Oxford, Ghent) and for our colleagues from the States, Ann
Arbor or Maryland would certainly be more convenient. Given the fact
that all members do their work voluntarily, such non-economic
considerations should also play a role.

I wonder if somebody (Syd?) could give us some hard figures to ponder
in addition to this? As to ticket cost, for me a trip to Europe would
be about US $200 less than a trip to the east cost of the US.

All the best,

Christian
