For an interesting antidote to the books that are basically critical
of LBJ, you might try Frank E. Vandiver, __Shadow's of Vietnam: Lyndon
Johnson's Wars__ (Texas A & M, 1997). Iy tries to look at the war from
his point of view and makes him a bit more sympathetic than some accounts.
Personally, I long ago quit thinking of him as a war criminal. More a
tragic figure, IMHO.
