ASSISTANT IT SUPPORT OFFICER
RS1B scale (#14,317 - #18,294 for Academic-Related Staff.
Fixed term appointment of one year in the first instance

Applications are invited for an Assistant IT Support Officer within the
Centre for Humanities Computing at OUCS.

The CHC is one of several facilities providing support for Humanities
Computing at OUCS. Its mission is to provide detailed technical and
advisory support for students, researchers and teachers from any of the
Humanities Departments at Oxford University. It aims to improve the quality
of information technology used in research, teaching and learning by
providing a showcase for the latest techniques, and by providing a readily
available centre of expertise on which academics may call.

The person appointed will take particular responsibility for IBM PC support
and advice, and for maintenance and expansion of Humanities World Wide Web
servers. In addition he or she will be expected to provide additional
backup support for the CHC's training and support activities for staff and
postgraduates in the relevant faculties and sub-faculties.

Applicants should preferably have a humanities or social sciences degree,
and should be able to demonstrate expertise in two or more of the
following: PCs and PC networks; World Wide Web and HTML; specialist
software for humanities and social science applications; good presentation
skills. They must enjoy working in a team and be able to communicate with
people from all levels of the University.

The appointment will be for a fixed term of one year in the first instance,
on the RS1B scale (#14,317 - #18,294 pounds sterling) for Academic-Related
Staff.
