I agree with O'Donnell's reply to the "Battle of the Books." Perhaps
Alston should participate in next year's Paris conference of the Associa-
tion of Literary and Linguistic Computing with the general theme "con-
sensus ex machina"? Despite my agreement with O'Donnell's position
voices like Alston's are valuable in adiscussion aimed at ways of investing
in the electronic revolution on our part, humanists.
