Preparation for the ODD workshop in Chicago seems to indicate
that <textNode> will have to get a last-minute reprieve.
If the simplest possible user is defining a schema using ODD,
without access to any of the TEI data macros, they need
a boot-strapping “text” thing to point at.
the only alternative to <textNode> is saying that they have
to use the restricted <mixedContent>, and cannot
build more complex schemas using alternate and sequence.
so unless people scream, this is what Lou and I will teach people
in a few weeks.
