i wonder if you’re not looking for a non-existent baby in the bathwater.
Most uses of @validUntil will be on the simple cases which are caught
by existing Schematron tests; when something passes its sell-by date,
the P5 Guidelines build fails in a noticeable way, as will user instances using
the schemas.

If I understand Syd aright (and I am not 100% sure I do), he’s tackling some edge cases
of deprecation.
