do you mean that we need to tell people that

 <rendition xml:id="funny" scheme="css":>font-style:normal; font-style:italic</rendition>

is silly? or do you mean say that the content must be syntactically correct CSS?

Are you looking to protect against syntactic sin or semantic sin?
