What's happened to the file teilite.dtd ?

At Release 2.2.0 of TEI P5 the TEI Lite customization was renamed
tei_lite, for two reasons. Firstly, for compatibility with all the
other TEI customizations; secondly, to signal that this version of TEI
Lite is constructed in a different way from preceding versions.

TEI Lite was first defined in 1996, and has been very widely
disseminated. Consequently there are now many many, often mutually
incompatible, files called "teilite.dtd" around on the internet.
Some of these are TEI P4 files, some are earlier TEI P5 versions, and
there has been no systematic use of version numbering to distinguish
them.

In this new version, the schema is defined in a way that is more
independent of changes in the underlying TEI P5 infrastructure.
As of this release, the TEI undertakes to maintain the current state
of TEI Lite unchanged, and to validate its compatibility with future
TEI P5 releases.
