[tei-council] Fwd: RE: latest Tite DTD?

During our February conference call, I was asked to check whether Apex
claims ownership of their DTD, which they derived from the Tite DTD
originally developed by Perry Trolard for the TEI-C. I asked Apex in a
different way: would they be willing to share their DTD publicly. The
answer from Greg (our technical contact) is yes, but they still haven't
managed to do so. However, Greg sent me the latest file as an email
attachment, which I am forwarding.

My plan is to try creating a DTD from the latest Tite ODD in SourceForge
and compare the results with this DTD. Assuming I have correctly
reconciled the Apex version and canonical Tite per notes gathered from
various sources over the past year or two, the only differences
remaining would be those changes introduced to P5 since the Apex DTD was
created which happened to affect Tite as well -- that is, a change to a
content model of an element. If this is the case, these should
generally be acceptable to everyone, so I would then ask Apex to use the
DTD I've created instead because it's more closer to P5. This would
also encourage them to be in touch with us about any future changes they
want to make to the encoding scheme so that they could be made in the
canonical source.

However, I never seen to find time for this. I recall some interest in
this project from other quarters, so if anyone else wants to take this
up, please do!

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

We've not gotten the dtd posted to the website yet. Attached is the dtd
that the teams are using.

I'll send a note when the dtd is available on the website.

Best regards,
Greg

Hi Greg, any progress on this?

Before going on to the other tickets (to make improvements to both versions of Tite), I've been meaning to create a DTD from the canonical ODD file and compare with Apex's DTD. (I have a DTD generated on Mar. 2, 2010, which Virginia McClure sent to Dan O'Donnell in April 2010.) Assuming this is the DTD These two DTDs should identical except for any changes introduced into TEI since Apex created its DTD, which I fear would take some time to work through. I want to verify this in case I missed some things that needed to be reconciled.

It would be good if Apex linked to its DTD from http://accesstei.apexcovantage.com/Home/AboutTeiTite in addition to the link to the Apex prose guidelines. That would also let me know that I do, in fact, have the latest version.
