Hi all,

Looking forward to seeing you soon. Some details that may be of
interest as you arrive and get settled (will add them to the Google
doc as well):

*Transport*
Last week I used the new AirRide shuttle that Paul mentioned, and
recommend it, if you still need to make arrangements to get from the
airport to campus. It was on time, comfortable, clean, runs
frequently, etc., and is certainly the cheapest option. You can make
reservations in advance here: http://www.myairride.com/. If you do
this, be sure to print out everything and bring it with you.
I think they also take walk-ons, for a slightly higher fee. You'll
want to take the shuttle to the Central Campus Transit Center, which
is a short walk from the hotel.

*Maps*
* From the shuttle station to the hotel: http://g.co/maps/8du2f
* Hotel location and surrounding area:
http://www.belltowerhotel.com/location.html
* Map of central campus: http://www.umich.edu/~info/pdf/central.pdf
* Map of the 4th floor of the Shapiro Library, where we'll be meeting:
http://www.lib.umich.edu/navigator/shapiro4.html

Note that, confusingly, the library map is oriented with north in the
lower right hand corner. The big white square to the right of the map
is our meeting room. The oddly shaped taupe area just above is where
Kevin's and my office is.

*food*
You won't have any trouble finding places to eat and drink within
walking distance of the hotel or the library, and most or all will be
open on Sunday.

* I believe your hotel reservation includes free continental breakfast
(as well as in-room wireless), but I'll confirm this.
* There's also a restaurant in the hotel, but I have no idea what it
is like: http://www.mercysrestaurant.com/menu
* There's a coffee shop on the first floor of the library, which has
light (pre-made) fare like sandwiches, salads, and sushi as well as
coffee and pastries: http://uunions.umich.edu/berts/
* Espresso Royale has locations close to the hotel and the library:
http://www.espressoroyale.com/location.php?id=20
* Or if you prefer gourmet coffee and really excellent pastries, there
is Comet Coffee: http://www.yelp.com/biz/comet-coffee-ann-arbor

*Wireless*
Non-UM-ers who will be on site will be assigned a temporary log-in so
you can access the "MWireless" network used by faculty, staff, and
students (the open "MGuest" network won't be sufficient for our work).
Library Desktop Support is working now on setting up your
accounts--hopefully they or I will be able to get the info to you
before the end of the week. I'll also bring the details with me on
Sunday, just in case. They know we need to be up and running over the
weekend.

I'm about to look over James' agenda, but want to note that on Tuesday
we plan to have lunch catered in the library, and invite interested
staff and other local people who might be interested to join us.
Planning to order a variety of foods from
http://www.jerusalemgarden.net/.

Hopefully this will at least get you here, fed and rested--let me know
if you have questions, and see you soon.

Becky
