I think this misses the point. The objects that might be pointed to from inside such a multiGrouping element might well be textual and alphabetic in nature but expressed in formats that the TEI doesn't always cater for embedding. These might be a score in various formats, an mp4, a flash applet, base64 encoded embedded mp3, etc. I think Sebastian's proposal of a semantically neutral element only meaning that the ptrs graphics etc contained are all alternate representations of something. The proposed notatedMusic element would then be a syntactic sugar specialization of this more generalized form.
