Sorry I've taken so long to get round to doing this, but I have now
started. Many thanks again to Paul for doing the homework on this.
Some comments
1. the current Guidelines have only one example of a related item, and
the relatedness is that one item is the "original" of another. Following
your naming system (which I like) I have replaced that value with
"otherForm" (in the case of a microprint facsimile reproduction) or
"otherEdition" (in the case of a diplomatic edition). But maybe
"original source" is important enough to warrant its own value?
2. Please please Paul could you choose a couple of the many examples
provided and give me a full citation? i.e. not just the info about the
"related item" but also the item it's related to.
3. I added the following example (from a book conveniently lingering on
my bookshelf)
<egXML xmlns="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/Examples"><biblStruct>
<monogr>
<author>Tolkien, J.R.R.</author>
<title>Den hobbit</title>
<title type="sub">aus dem Engleschen iwwersat</title>
<editor type="translator">Henry Wickens</editor>
<imprint>
<pubPlace>Esch-sur-Sûre</pubPlace>
<publisher>Op der Lay S. àr. L</publisher>
<date>1922</date>
</imprint>
</monogr>
<relatedItem type="translatedFrom"
target="http://www.example.com/bibliography.xml#TOLK97">
Originally published in English by Harper Collins Publishers Ltd under
the title <title>The Hobbit</title>.
</relatedItem>
</biblStruct></egXML>
but need more, preferably of other types.
4. At present, my feeling remains that we shouldn't actually constrain
these types in the ODD itself, and that just a few examples of sensible
uses would do. However, I think Council agreed that suggested values
list would also be helpful. In which case, a selection needs to be made
from Paul's original email (dated 30 oct 09)
