Yes, that is certainly a solution, or using <seg> similarly. So consider
my argument in favor of <suppress> to be withdrawn, or suppressed if you
prefer.

As for Lou:

One of Richard Nixon's contributions to scholarship was indeed this
theory of editorial practice.  :-)
