[tei-council] Fwd: Vesta and new Java update for Mac

I've long thought we should consider making use of bounties and competitions to outsource this kind of thing. 

Unfortunately this is turning out to be a bad year to offer cash reward in due to the world wide economic difficulties--something that is making it very difficult for member institutions to pay their fees this year.

However, it might be interesting to try out what we could get for free--many open source projects get more for less, after all. Perhaps if we could package the job clearly we could issue a call for volunteers?

Several thoughts/questions:
- Is john Kennedy's answer a good one and a testable one?
- Could we make a call for contribution on the TEI list (with a free  
registration to the Member's meeting and a printed version of the  
guidfelines...)
