[tei-council] proposal for a Scholarly Publishing SIG

[I am just back from a week of vacation, so I am catching up on 
work-related email.]

I will certainly be actively involved in this SIG. I would be willing to 
be a Council liaison (more than one might not hurt?).

There are a number of parties with special interest in the projects and 
possible deliverables that the SIG is addressing. It may be both a 
technical and a political challenge to satisfy all their needs. 
Scholarly publishing has different conventions in different geographical 
regions, as well as in different disciplines.

In the North American context, there is some overlap between the 
nonprofit scholarly publishing world (e.g. Association of American 
University Presses) and the for-profit world (Society for Scholarly 
Publishing), but points of disagreement and contention as well.
