I don't like 'capacity'. It is a very vague word that says nothing about 
how we want to use it. How about objRole or refRole (= role of referred 
object)?

But not being very conversant in manuscript description I would like to 
see a few examples, perhaps from James, of how the role attribute would 
be used.
