Dear all,
I sent an email just after the TEI members meeting about the next
council meeting, but I don?t think the new members were registered on
the list yet.
While discussing informally the date and venue of the next council
meeting in Maryland, Malte Rehbein, Marie Curie Research Fellow at the
Moore Institute of National University of Ireland in Galway
(http://www.nuigalway.ie/mooreinstitute/), proposed to host the meeting
at his institution.
Some members of the council welcomed the idea on this list. Although I
do realize it may seem early to make any decisions about the future
work of the council, Malte needs a reply rather soon and has now
written to me asking whether we can confirm the following proposal:
- host and venue: The Moore Institute for Research in the Humanities
and Social Studies at NUI, Galway
- date: 26 - 28 March 2008 (the week after Easter)
- with a public conference on the 26th and the meeting itself on the
27/28th.
- for the conference:
* they would like for two or three Council members to give a paper
about some ?cool? TEI related stuff, if possible
* in addition to that there will be some papers or presentations
from people around Ireland about TEI / encoding projects
* maybe one keynote speaker
- they would also like to publish the conference proceedings
- for the Council meeting itself:
* we could use the seminar room of the Moore Institute which
provides space, access to a terrace and a view over the River Corrib
(he added a smile here?)
* WIFI will be available
* they can offer coffee and snacks
* and can arrange accommodation in a hotel nearby or in the city
centre (but of course the expenses will need to be covered by the
consortium a usual)
They have also discussed the possibility of having a pre-workshop on
the Tuesday afternoon for an introduction to TEI, but have decided
that it isn?t feasible.
They need confirmation on the date as soon as possible (possibly
within the next week or maximum two weeks), since they would like to
send a call for papers etc.
I don?t know what is the best way to decide on the matter (especially
given the delicate moment of transition and holidays ongoing or coming
up), but for sure we need to reply to him, so unless someone else
wants to do it, please express your opinion and let me know what I
should tell him.
Best,
Arianna
