I took a couple of days off from P5 to visit Wuerzburg for Philtag 6, an
annual gathering of German scholars organised by Werner Wegstein, whence
I have just returned. It turned out to be a very encouraging meeting
which I thought Council members might like to know about for the
following reasons:
1. I presented an overview of what's new in P5, a dry run for the MM in
several respects; including a sneaky preview of the new format for the
Guidelines, which was well received.
2. I was persuaded that model.biblLike elements should be typed, and
made them so
3. I was persuaded that we need a new generic model.divTop element, but
haven't yet created it
4. Peter Robinson presented his ideas about "distributed editions" for
which he proposes six new global attributes , but which I think can be
met instead by using @cRef
5. Laurent and I ran a Roma workshop, discovered some annoying things
about Windows, but more or less survived (we also satisfactorily showed
how to make some extensions for encoding letters, which had been the
subject of an earlier presentation)
6. I learned about some rather nice software being developed for online
editing of TEI materials
7. There was a *lot* of enthusiasm for TEI P5!
