Basically I have just added a snippet of java script in your
index-toc.html, called an additional small css (expand.css which you
could include in your guidelines.css), added the images for the button
in the same folder and edited the html with the appropriate classes, id
(id of the chapter plus additional 'ex') and script functions.

Well yes, but I think it would look better if a bit smaller by default
and with less bright colours, but I don't want to seem fussy.
By the way, I am sure you are aware that both links to PDF and single
HTML don't work at http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/html/
Also, I don't think people need to know that the table of contents
heading links to individual HTML files.
