I considered whether or not this would be desirable: if there's a strong 
feeling in favour of giving real world dimensions, then some way of 
defining them could certainly be added.. It's not entirely obvious what 
that should be though. And, as Conal notes, we really don't need it for 
the use cases envisaged so far.

I think there may be a "not" missing in that sentence. Again, this is 
hypothetical, and the happy Conservators in question haven't spoken up 
yet.  It seems to me to be purely image metadata, which we're not 
messing with.
