Christian,

If it's not to late to add an item to the agenda, I would like to
discuss the recent TEI-L and TEI-council threads on @rend. We need
to decide whether to change @rend's datatype to a pointer. Based on
the discussions, my preference is back to having two attributes,
@rend and @rendref (or some such name). @rend would remain as it is.
@rendref would be a pointer to one or more formally described
rendition styles. This gives us the flexibility of XHTML with its
@class/@style attributes with a pointing attribute (xhtml:class/
tei:rendref) and an inline style attribute (xhtml:style/tei:rend),
but in our case both @rend and @rendref describe the rendering of the
*source* document, so we would not be duplicating functionality of HTML.

Feel free to forward this on to council if you want to add the agenda
item.

John
