you can say "xsd:dateTime | AComplexRegexp" if you want.
me, I would just swallow my objections and say "lets use XSD datatypes
and lobby them to improve it".
I see little point in saying "we want full ISO 8601 but we'll just
reduce it to CDATA for validation purposes".
