Ted Morgan makes some major points re the flaws in Gitlin's article. It could
be added that much of the concern "on the left" (and on parts of the right,
too) is of what the don't-think "vengeance" and vigilance-versus-evil
espoused by U.S. leadership may be doing to U.S. civil liberties. There is
also the question of what eye-for-an-eye, or worse, Georgie's boys may be
digging for this country itself, not necessarily only in the far future, as
they proceed on their merry way. Especially should distraction from Enrongate
appear necessary.
