    Aspects of The Current Crisis:
    Teach-In/Speak Out

    Open To The Public

    On October 13th, a teach-in/speak out will be held at Burlington College.
    The event will address the current crisis and will feature a wide spectrum
    of speakers, each with expertise on their subject. Presentations will be
    followed by a public dialogue period. The event will run between 10:AM
    and 4:PM with a half hour lunch break. Coffee and snacks will be available.
    The line up of speakers and subject matter follows:

    1) The Russian Connection: Professor Robert V. Daniels, University of
    Vermont. Professor Daniels is an authority on Russian history. His
    published works include: Russia: The Roots of Confrontation, Harvard
    Press, The Dynamics of Soviet Politics, also Harvard Press.

    2) History of Terrorism: Professor Denise Youngblood, University of
    Vermont. Professor Youngblood specializes in the history of Eastern
    Europe and the Balkans and has published widely on both subjects.

    3) Islam: History & Thought: Muhadeen Battah & Rogab Mohamed,
    Islamic Society of Vermont

    4) The Palestine Question: Sister of Mercy Miriam Ward. St. Michael's
    College. Founder of Pax Christi Burlington. Leader of some 27 study
    tours to Biblical lands.

    5) The Middle East: Professor Bogac Ergene: University of Vermont
    Department of Middle Eastern Studies. Particular specialty economic
    history. Widely published in both English and Turkish.

    6) The Israeli Palestinian Conflict: Rabbi Joshua Chassan Zedek
    Ohavi Synagogue, Burlington.

    7) Homeland Civil Liberty Issues: Steven Blodgett, Esq. & Jeffrey D.
    Quittner Esq. Steven Blodgett is a former state senator from Chittendon
    County in Vermont and a former member of the board of directors
    of the Vermont ACLU. Jeffrey D. Quittner is a former prosecutor
    of environmental law in the Virgin Islands.

    8) Media Response: The Internet New Millennium, New War, New Media.
    Carola Von Hoffmannstahl-Solomonoff, publisher & editor of On The QT,
    An e-zine/website focused on urban corruption: drug trade, money
    laundering, misuse of public funds.

    9) Media Response: How Is It Playing On TV? Professor Thomas Garrett
    and Professor Barry Snyder. Both of Burlington College, both with
    extensive background in film studies. An analysis of how the loudest
    media voice is depicting current events.

    10) The Western European Response: Architect Mannie Leoni. Publisher
    of "05401". Recently returned from Italy. How the crisis looks from there.
