    REBELS WITH A CAUSE
SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 6:30 PM, MONTPELIER, VT. CITY HALL; TUESDAY, MARCH 27,
7 PM, MONTPELIER, VT. CITY HALL "It isn't the rebels that cause the
troubles of the world, it's the troubles that cause the rebels," said
former SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) president Carl Oglesby, one
of 22 former SDS activists who help tell the story of the organization's
brief but tumultuous history in Helen Garvy's new film. From the Port Huron
Statement of 1962, to anti-poverty organizing in Newark, to the emergence
of the radical Weathermen, the story is told by articulate and committed
participants. 2000, U.S., directed by Helen Garvy, 120 minutes. Post-film
events: Three of the film's participants (Juan Gonzalez, Bob Ross, and
Cathy Wilkerson) are here on Saturday to discuss the film; there will also
be a discussion with political activists and youth on Tuesday. Sponsored by
    American Friends Service Committee.
