We'll be showing "Steal This Movie" and afterwards there will be a discussion of it by some of Abbie's anarchist friends. Abbie Hoffman and "Steal This Movie" The November Anarchist Forum On Tuesday, November 14, at 7:30 PM, the Libertarian Book Club's Anarchist Forum presents a discussion on "Abbie Hoffman and 'Steal This Movie'." This past summer, Hollywood released a surprisingly well-intentioned biopic of the late Abbie Hoffman, noted American dissident and one of the most creative, historically important anarchist activists of the 20th century. We'll screen a videocassette of the film "Steal This Movie" [111 mins,] and then discuss its accuracy and assess its propaganda pros and cons. Bring your own popcorn. The post-screening discussion will be moderated by Mayer Vishner, one of Abbie's friends from 1967 until his death in 1989 and coordinator of his cocaine-bust defense committee. The event will take place at the Brecht Forum on the 10th floor of 122 West 27th St. [between 6th and 7th Aves.], a short walk from the 28th St. 1, 9, N, and R stops, the 34th St. B, D, and Q stop, and the 23rd St. F stop. There is no set fee for the presentation, but a contribution to aid the LBC is requested. If you have questions, contact the LBC /Anarchist Forum, 212-979-8353, 339 Lafayette St., Room 202, NYC, NY 10012 or e-mail: email@example.com.
