    Re Paula's concern that Bush as president would mean more American 
    lives lost to poverty and illness than Gore. 
       The greatest danger to American lives in this election, and 
    specifically to the lives of the poor and the young, because it is 
    they who get killed in wars, is that Gore and Bush would both wage war 
    wherever and whenever to preserve the relatively cheap gas prices that 
    this economy is currently dependent on. Americans are already being 
    killed in Colombia for that reason, although it is camouflaged as a 
    war on drugs.
