Saw Bardacke today in Pacific Grove at the memorial for Dick
Criley, a man of my generation, major activist against HUAC,
descended from someone pressed to death for refusing to name
names in the Salem witch hunt. Bardacke, today a teacher of
English as a second language, has the appearance of a
distinguished major intellectual. That's not put on, just his
    face.
