It seems to me that the constant harping on "corporate power"
(as opposed to the power of capital, period) caters to a false
nostalgia for the days of (supposedly) gentler and more 'democratic'
competitive capitalism.
Like the days when lynch law ruled in the south. Has anyone ever
read Upton Sinclair's *Brass Check*? Local newspapers were
every bit as corrupt and venal as the current media monopolies.
