I think you've done a great job moderating, and I understand that
progressives can't handle confronting unpleasant truths. They prefer the
comfort of like and the reinforcement of other politically correct minds.
Not being able to leave the womb is, in my view, perhaps the defining
characteristic of the left. (I have written about this, of course, in
Radical Son.) I'm sorry about the people who have left your list. I'm
sorry to have produced a kind of apoplexy in others by my mere presence. I
am content to bow out of this debate as gracefully as possible. I ask only
that you post the comments I have already sent you, and that you also post
    this farewell note.

    --------------------

modr8r note: just a quick comment on "people who have left the list".
david is referring here to my mention (in off-list correspondence) to a
"handful of unsubscribes". i note approximately 5 unsubscribes that may be
attributable to the recent furor, but considering that the list has over
600 members, i consider this relatively inconsequential. had the current
exchange proceeded unhindered, the numbers could conceivably been greater.
mr. horowitz is free to re-engage the debate at any time. i as moderator,
will continue to strive for the creation of a safe forum for meaningful
dialogue, regardless of the opinions or political leanings of list
    participants...
