Good points raised by William! I'd say this pattern of re-occurrences,
backsliding, and contined oppression of different folks and the
ecosphere has a great deal to do with the kind of system we live under
and its ability to persevere, evade, co-opt, and just plain
repress-if-necessary --as it did in the years following the 60s. I
think "we" (all) take some responsibility for that, too, in our failure
to continue to be vigilant, active, persistent, etc. as much and as
effectively as we can; still, I put a lot more of the burden on the
system, including the media which don't really tell us what's going on
in the world (recall US intervention in Central America, today's
suffering under sanctions in Iraq, etc. etc. etc.).
So, gotta keep going!
