Peter McGregor is a member of the Viet Nam generation, turning twenty in
1967, which meant in Australia, facing conscription for the war.
During the American/Australian war in Indochina he initially joined the
Australian Committee of Responsibility for Children of Vietnam & then
became involved in the anti-war movement.
Because the war became so controversial, & because the West was defeated,
battles for the war's ideological meaning have continued long after the
fighting ended in 1975.
Over the last decade, McGregor has interpreted these cultural battles, and
also contributed to them. This book is a selection of his writings.
Peter McGregor works as a lecturer in Media & Social Studies at the
University of Western Sydney, Nepean. He was a member of the Curatorium
that organised the pluralistic Viet Nam Voices project at the Casula
Powerhouse Arts Centre in mid 1997. McGregor was an editor of the 3 Volume
RACISM: THE AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCE (1971); & also an editor of VERSIONS OF
FREEDOM (1996)
