I am currently a newspaper editor/publisher living in British
Columbia. I served with the USMC from 1965 to 1970 with 19 months
in Vietnam 1965-1967. I was an organizer and leader in the
anti-war movement amongst GI's in Japan in 1970. I sent the
following message to Kali Tal when I came upon the 60's Project.
It was suggested that I post it here.

I worked with Professor Clark Smith on his oral interviews of Vietnam
veterans in the 1970's (I was his reader when I was in grad school at
Berkeley). I was an editor of SEMPER FI in Iwakuni, Japan in 1970 when
I was a sergeant in the Marines, and in 1975 I wrote an honor's thesis
about the Japanese and the GI anti-war movement in Japan. It was
entitled GI JOIN US . . . . and was filed at the Bancroft Library along
with a good number of issues of SEMPER FI. If they kept it or not I do
not know. If anyone is interested they can contact me at my email
address which is
