On the commodification of 60s dissent (not quite the commodification IN the
60s), see my article in New Political Science: "Democracy in Eclipse? Media
Culture and the Postmodern `Sixties.'" (Also, IN the 60s in touched on a
little in my book, chapter 5, on the Counterculture. Rock & Roll, too.
