On Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 pm at the Tamiment library there
will be a reception and film showing to the honor the publications of
Ron Jacobs' new book, _The Way The Wind Blew: A History of the Weather
Underground_. The book discusses the beginnings of the Weather
Underground and its associations with other left movements including
the Black Panthers and the Progressive Labor Party. In addition, we
will be showing the 35 minute film, _Inciting to Riot_ a film by
Steven Fischler, Francis Freeland, and Joel Sucher on the student
movement at New York University.

David R. Roediger: "The big histories of Students for a Democratic
Society have either ignored or actively despised the organization's
post-1968 incarnations and the revolutionary groupings it generated.
Ron Jacobs' intelligent and balanced _The Way the Wind Blew_ breaks
decisively with this tradition, offering a full and lively account of
the harrowing history of the Weather Underground. The curious
combinations of idealism, mania, egalitarianism, and class blindness
of the Weatherpeople are all on display here, well-situated in a
context of imperialist war and fierce state repression."

The Tamiment Libary is at 70 Washington Square South, New York New
York 10012. This event is free and open to the public.
