The sixties were responsible for the civil rights movement, which made a
big difference in the South, and even to some degree in the rest of the
country. The rest of it was of little consequence, mainly because it was
just wrong. You only need to consider that Ronald Reagan became Governor
and then President because of public opposition to the radical "revolution"
Even Dr. Hayakawa was elected to the Senate only because of his dramatic
opposition to the movement at San Francisco State. The "revolution", like
the Soviet Union, did not recognize the truth of the fundamental law of
economics - "Goods and services are limited, and human WANTS are
insatiable." You can not substitute NEEDS for WANTS, even if you have the
power of the former Soviet Union.
