It's been suggested that the polls about the war also varied depending on
how the samples were selected. Young, white males (as usual) were more
pro-war than other parts of the population and polls hitting those segments
of the working class came out more pro-war than others. Similarly, young,
white males of so-called "middle class" pretensions (like the elitists of
the "weather bureau") were the most vehement exponents of anti-working class
sentiment in the anti-war movement.
